Our Christmas Wordle is a fun variation of the original Wordle game and can be played by adults and kids.
Unlike the original Wordle, where the words are somewhat unlimited, this game features over 60 5-letter Christmas words. And the best thing is that you can play Christmas Wordle online unlimited times for free.
Meaning of the Colors
Grey: The letter is not in the word.
Yellow: The letter is in the word but not correctly positioned.
Green: The letter is in the word and in the correct position.
How to Play Christmas Wordle
- Try to guess the 5-letter Christmas word by entering your guess in each row of the 5 x 6 tiles. You may use the on-screen keyboard or your physical keyboard.
- After entering your guess, the game colors the tile of each letter according to its presence and position in the correct word.
- A tile turns grey when a letter isn’t part of the correct word and yellow when the letter is part of the word but in an incorrect position.
- A green tile indicates that the letter is part of the word and in the correct position. So, you’ve guessed the right word when all the tiles in a row are green.
- Letters in the on-screen keyboard are highlighted in the same way as the letters in the tiles.
- After six attempts, if you do not guess the word correctly, you’ll see two prompts. One reveals the right word, while the other says, “You’ve run out of guesses! Play again!”
- Whether you guessed the word correctly or not, you can play again by clicking on the “Try a new word” link above the tiles.
The Origin of Wordle
The Wordle game is somewhat eponymous, as it was created by Josh Wardle, but is now owned by the New York Times. In this online game, players try to guess a 5-letter word correctly in six attempts. With each day comes a new word chosen randomly and checked for suitability. To play the original Wordle:
- Go to the Wordle game website.
- Click on the “Play” button to start the game. Your browser will load a page with 30 tiles (5 x 6) and an on-screen keyboard.
- Try to guess the 5-letter word of the day in six attempts or less. You may use the on-screen keyboard or your physical keyboard.
- With each word you enter, the game highlights each letter based on how close you are to the word of the day.
- When the game highlights a letter in green, the letter is part of the word of the day and in the correct position.
- When a letter is in yellow, it is a part of the word of the day. However, it is in the wrong position.
- When a letter is in grey, it isn’t part of the word of the day. So, you probably shouldn’t use it in subsequent guesses.
- Letters in the on-screen keyboard are highlighted in the same way as the letters in the tiles.
- When you correctly guess the word of the day, all the tiles in that row will turn green. Then, a pop-up showing your gameplay statistics will appear. If you create an account, you can have the stats linked to that account.
- If you do not guess the word of the day correctly after six attempts, you’ll have to wait till the next day to play again.
